What we collect

Two different things, for two different reasons.

• When you book an appointment: booking happens on Google's appointment page, and we receive your name, phone number, email, and anything you write in the booking questions.
• When you become a client: the tax and identity documents you hand us so we can do the work, which can include Social Security numbers, ITINs, income records and immigration documents.
• When you use the callback form: your name, phone, email if you give it, the service you need, your office and language, and whether you want a text. We use it only to call or text you back about that request.

Why we have it

To contact you about the appointment you asked for, and to prepare and file the work you hired us to do. Nothing else.

Who we share it with

Only where the work requires it:

• The IRS and New York State, when we file on your behalf.
• The tax preparation software we use to prepare and transmit returns.
• Anyone you tell us in writing to share it with.

What we never do

We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to a marketing company.

Federal law is stricter than that for tax preparers: under Internal Revenue Code section 7216 we may not use or disclose your tax return information for anything other than preparing your return without your written consent. We do not ask for that consent.

How long we keep it

We keep client files for as long as federal and state law require. The IRS recommends you keep your own copies for at least three years from the date you filed.

How it is kept

Client files are stored in secure cloud systems and only D&K staff can open them. If you upload documents to our client portal, that portal is run by our tax software provider and is protected by your own login.

Calls and texts

If you give us your phone number we may call or text you about your appointment or your return. That is service communication, not marketing. Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving them, and we will call instead.

This website

This site does not run advertising trackers and does not sell or share browsing data. It remembers your language choice on your own device. Our website host records basic visit and performance data, such as pages viewed and browser type, to keep the site running.

Your choices

Call either office and ask. You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete anything we are not required by law to keep. We will tell you plainly which is which.
